Amendments to Louisiana's Database Security Breach Notification Law

Should there be a data security breach, businesses will have 60 days to make proper notification to the Louisiana Attorney General.

In the wake of the European Union's new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed into effect amendments to Louisiana's Database Security Breach Notification Law. New amendments went into effect on August 1st, 2018.

Louisiana businesses will now be required to implement and maintain "reasonable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information to protect the personal information from breaches, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure."

Should there be a data security breach, businesses will have 60 days to make proper notification to the Louisiana Attorney General.
